weekend plans and my kitteh
what's everyone got planned for the weekend?
the celebration of our Country's birthday?
I stopped last night and strolled around a local nursery. I loved it!
Every little plant begged me to take it home.
I ended up with four different colored snapdragons, some little purple flowers and some pink somethings..
I have to go back!
pics will be posted soon.
dragonflies were everywhere.. following us around. I loved it!
I told Lexi (the oldest rockstar teenager) they were fairies. she agreed.
awesome!
ah..
the little things that make us happy.
We are going to the inlaws for a bbq on Sunday.. yay!
I truly adore my inlaws. it is rare from what I hear. lol.
they have always accepted and loved me and I feel the same.
when my dad died, Josh (the hubs) said something that I will never forget.
I was sad that me n my sis have no parents now.
he said. "You can borrow mine"
awwww, huh?
so sweet.
and he is right.
they have always been more than just inlaws.
*sigh*
anyways..
Saturday me and the kidlets are going to hide in the mountains and play for a while. I can't wait to embrace nature and clear my head. find some peace..all that good stuff.. I may even get started writing something. I totally flopped June writing with the group. sorry kids. I just didn't have it in me..
then we are having a bbq on Monday.. with us and prolly a bunch of teenagers.
Tuesday we took the day off work to have family day at Boondocks. I can't wait!
We are going to have a great weekend..
I will have tons of pics next week
cuz yanno I'm addicted!
Have a great weekend all!

June
I'm gonna be buuuuusy!!!
I've decided to torture myself yet again..
I love that I can be arm twisted into these things
lol
I have signed up for BuNoWriMo in June..
(stolen from the Tart's blog)
So what IS BuNoWriMo? The Burrow Novel Writing Month.
When: The 30 days in June.
What: Write at least 50,000 words in the 30 days of June.
How: Very similar rules as NaNoWriMo... The traditional version means you can't start until June 1 and you write 'a whole book' (50,000 words worth anyway) in the month, but like NaNoWriMo, rebels are welcome... rebels would be people who continue on an already started WiP, people who write collections of shorts or non-fiction, people who want to set their OWN rules... It really just just a support system for a fast paced writing month.
What we DISCOURAGE is editing as you go. The point of writing fast is to let go of that inner editor so you can get the WORK done. Rewriting can come LATER.
If you are interested in joining us, just go here and join... that simple... then you will get the updates via facebook message (about weekly this month, maybe twice a week in June—we won't clog your inbox)
But for NOW: tie up those loose ends! Do whatever outlining or character sketching you like to accomplish pre-writing... get that brain going on your novel idea...
And resign yourself to the fact that when I am part of the planning committee, you will often hear you need to just get naked.
so.. I am going to be in the rebel category and try to finish my wip that I started last year..

Feedback
So apparently I am not a good writer.
I chose first person, present tense to write my story. I thought, hell, why not be different? Original?
Well.. that is crap! :) I have been told it doesn't work.
Yes, it is harder to maintain that level for a million pages, but why doesn't it work?
I want the reader to feel my character. To live the story the same time as it is happening.
No?
I submitted a tidbit of my wip to someone who will remain nameless :)
and got some great feedback.
First of which, first person, present tense doesn't work.
*sigh*
so.. I suppose I will change that.
should I?
I have been told and have read lots of places, no one likes it.
Ok. I will change it.
Then I love this!
I have adverbitis :)
too many adverbs?
*longer, bigger sigh*
I tend to show and not tell.
ok. I get this.
But every book I have ever read, does the same thing.
If not worse. *whine*
I suppose I need to rethink this writing thing.
again.
I loved getting this advice.
I did.
Then I thought, I suck!
Moving on.
Yay for the weekend to let this soak in.
Because the said person, will take another look after I've made the adjustments and changes.
Squeee!!!

I suck
I went up to my happy little room, with my happy little notebook and yep, brand new pencil.
I really wanted to write. at least one page.
One frekin page!
Did I do it?
Nope.
I watched LA Ink and then fifteen and pregnant on lifetime.
Gah!
I suck!
My wip is screaming at me every time I walk by.
Do I give it any attention?
no.
WTF?
How do I get my mojo back? How can I put on paper what is taking over my brain?
How do I explain that fairies are gearing up to battle and Aislinn has to help them? IDK! (how lame does my wip sound now?)
HELP!!

Highest paid writers of the year!
Omg Omg!
This is encouraging... right?
Forbes released it's list of highest-paid authors on Thursday, revealing that the top 10 made over $270 million in the past year.
Coming in on top is James Patterson, with earnings of over $70 million, despite being called a horrible writer by Stephen King. Stephenie Meyer, the author of The Twilight Saga, is in second place with over $40 million. She shares the honor of not being respected for her craft by King, who came in third with over $34 million. One wonders how much it hurt him to earn less than two writers who he doesn't think are very skilled.
Danielle Steel, who's written over 70 books, is in at number four with over $32 million. Ken Follett rounds out the top five, bringing in a mere $20 million. Dean Koontz is number six, followed by Janet Evanovich. Her earnings could actually rival Patterson's, according to Forbes, but a move to a new publisher following a disagreement over an advance set her back.
Bringing up the rear is John Grisham, Nicholas Sparks, and J.K. Rowling, who's earnings have slowed after the end of her Harry Potter series.
So..does this make me want to cram as much as I can on that little keyboard? You know it!
Cept right now, my word is expired so I have to buy a new version (which is waaaay expensive) so I suppose I'll have to take my online friendy Hart's ideas and grab some notebooks and pencils :)
No excuses right?
BTW Congrats to you Watery Tart on your contract!!! Way to go girl!! I read your posts but don't comment much..
I do this alot..to everyone I follow...I need to get better about that..Sorry :(

My first sentence
I found this post from patricia stoltey killer-first-sentences about how the first sentence can draw readers in or repel them forever.
I think mine needs help..I know mine needs attention.
The day begins lazily as I sit quietly in my warm, sunny window seat, watching the trees sway in the warm April breeze.
From here, the story heats up, but not sure, maybe I could just get rid of the whole sentence altogether...
Help?!
Editing in first paragraph...maybe it will make more sense with the rest..
The day begins lazily as I sit quietly in my warm, sunny window seat, watching the trees sway in the
warm April breeze. My legs luxuriously stretch out on the dark blue, velvety padding. My silky night
shirt clings to my body. Taking in the scenery of the neighborhood so alive outside, my eyes wander,
as usual, down to the driveway of the new neighbor. The sight of him causes my breath to catch and
my pulse quickens slightly.
The flash of the sun glinting off the just waxed hood of my neighbor’s obvious pride and joy, a black
Charger, almost blinds me. I blink several times and upon recovering my wits, find my eyes on a pair
of rock hard calves, following them up to a perfectly chiseled ass in a low cut pair of red gym shorts.
His overworked abs flex and pull as he reaches over the hood to grab a towel.
Please be kind :)

Contemplating
So.. I've been struggling with my book. My disorganized mind is having a hard time grasping plot outlining, dialogue, and well..everything.
I started with this amazing idea. I wrote 30 pages. I bombed. Nothing to say. Nothing to share.
I am stuck.
I am thinking of breaking it into several shorter stories. Thinking of that makes my head hurt. Now I have to find places to stop. I have to outline each story. More work.
Why is this so hard?
I lost my ideas. I lost my fantastical project. It's all gone.
Will it come back?
Maybe.
Maybe not.
I have no idea.
I will just keep going.
Maybe write the whole thing. Finish it. Then go back and assess the damage.
What do you think?

Random stuff
I just have some random things to share today..
I went to my first Zumba class last night..I have to say, it is the funnest workout I've ever done.. seriously. I loved the dancing part and the whole shakin your ass part. Absolutely fun! I recommend it to everyone!
I am definately feeling it everywhere today though. I mean everywhere!
I am wearing a pair of pants, that I haven't been able to comfortably squeeze into for a month or so.. And I can breathe when I sit down!! I even have wiggle room.. How exciting is that!!! So even though the scale isn't falling fast, My clothes are clapping! (so is my belly, and my guts that were always squished when wearing these pants)

Just a cute lil thing I saw and wanted to share.
Also...
Meet Raven.. she is the newest member of the family..
On the writing stuff.. I am still going. I have hours and hours of new research and working on a great part of the story.. The part where the good guys prepare to meet the bad guy! Ok, cliche..but still.. :) I am determined to be done with the first draft by the end of July..
Life is good!

I need your help blogimunity
I has come to my attention that I can't seem to find a fitting name for my "oh so sexy, gentle, caring, witty, smart, protecting, hunk of man meat" character that fits him like a tight t-shirt.
I am asking for some help friendsies.. I need something that rolls off the tongue, something that defines but isn't a cliche'd name... I need something original but not shall I say, stupid?
Any ideas?
If I get a bunch, I'll try to put up a poll..maybe add a prize for the winning name giver :)
I also forgot to add...the story is current..if that helps My MC is Irish, living in NY.. He is, well..not sure..from another land or something..idk bout that yet.

I might actually finish something!! I know!
I have a couple days to prepare, but since it is my first time of doing something like this.. I don't really know what to expect, so not sure how to prepare, exactly..

Internal conflict blog fest
I totally forgot that I had signed up for Alli's Internal conflict blogfest and it was starting today! Sorry dears!! I think this may be a little of an internal conflict, though, the more experienced writers-please correct me if I'm wrong...
It is most definately unedited and there are a TON of things that need changing and polishing..but here is a lil snippet from my wip... I'm so nervous to share but this is what happens when one forgets her obligations :) this is the "pg13" part of the story, the rest is xxx :)
I walked into my kitchen the next morning sleepy and disoriented. Starting some coffee I sat at my small kitchen table looking around. Something seemed off. Then I spotted it. The little purple fairy. Stunned I froze my gaze on it. It stared back. For a long moment no one moved or spoke. I tried to wrap my mind around this little being standing in my kitchen. After an even longer moment of silence the little creature spoke.” Aislinn, my name is ---, and I have been sent to show you your powers. You are a powerful---- and you need to come home to defeat---“ it’s voice was soft and melancholy.
“Ok, back up a minute” I exclaimed. “ I’m what and I need to defeat who and how?” I was floored. This was the second time it told me I had powers or some nonsense like that. Maybe I am still dreaming I thought. Pinching my cheeks just to make sure. “Well, I’m awake” I whispered rubbing my sore flesh. “ok little friend, if that’s what you are, Let’s go over this again”. I am a ----. Ok. I have always been a practicing witch, a hedgewitch in fact, but I never knew I actually had some sort of calling or reason for it. “So whats the story”? I inquired. “I mean, how can you prove to me that what you are telling me is true?” The little fairy smiled in that most stunning way. She replied with telling me all about---- and how----has stolen the -----and he is using it against the land. “ok, this sounds like a lot of fun and all, but I’m not who you need. I have a life here and I am by no means powerful enough to take over this guy”.
The fairy closed her eyes and seemed to conjure a vision right there, in the middle of my kitchen. It was a projection of what looked like some enchanting meadow. Lovely, colorful butterflies fluttering about, light green grasses shifting in the wind. It all looked and almost felt peaceful. Small animals scurried by, scampering and scuttling to their own pace. I was lost in the magic of it all. All of a sudden the tranquility was shattered. A black cloud of evil surrounded the meadow. Thunder boomed and the creatures scattered. They sky turned gray and the grass instantly wilted then brittled. The cloud seemed to leave a path of destruction in its wake. It destroyed the beauty and life of the wondrous place within seconds. As the vision faded, the little fairies eyes filled with tears and she bowed her head. I took a breath and sat stunned.
For a few minutes I contemplated this new information. Letting it fill my head and heart. I could really be a priestess so powerful to stop something like what I just saw and not know it? As if she read my thoughts, the fairy came over and grabbed my hand. Her pleading eyes fixed on me she whispered that I had been born in to the most powerful family of high priestesses and shamans. The lines run deep. Your family is nobility among Ireland’s magical society. “Why hadn’t I known about this?” I begged. “your parents tried to keep this secret from you to keep harm away. They tried to protect you from any danger that could befall you. They wanted you to have a normal life. “
“They had many enemies and just as many friends and allies. They were a beloved part of the community and didn’t want harm to come your way.”
“You said that already” I replied. She bowed her head and folded her tiny arms against her brilliant purple gown. “What harm do you keep talking about?” “Does it have anything to do with what you just showed me? With my parent’s death?” The creature’s eyes glistened up at me. The sorrow in them was heartbreaking. She didn’t have to answer, I knew. My parents had been murdered and it had something to do with magic. Something that was now carried on to me. My heart dropped.
