Bike Ride

I went on a bike ride with my girls Sunday morning. We decided we would ride until we just couldn't anymore. I think we made a total trip of about four miles, which at the time, seemed like waaaay more. It took us almost an hour and a half.

For some reason, my feet don't meet the ground when I'm on my seat. It is all the way down, btw. :)
I have determined I need a double cushioned seat and padded pants! My ass was sore from the moment I got off!

It still hurts like hell. But the ride was worth it. We had a blast and enjoyed mommy-daughter time.  It was quiet and not a lot of traffic, which is normal here on Sundays.

That was pretty much my work out for the day..well, that and grocery shopping!

I don't think I will be getting back on a bike any time soon. I would have thought with all my extra padding, I would be fine..but apparently "that" area isn't protected :)

Fit Fridays!!

Yay It's Friday again!!!
I am getting ready for a realllly long weekend, woohoo!!!

so far this week has been great. Other than headaches constantly, I feel pretty good.
We had great workouts this week, and even at the rec center, I did a little more than usual. Just kicked up the resistance and added a couple more minutes and reps to each thing I did.
I can use heavier weights without hurting myself, and do more reps, I think my body is starting to respond to the routine.
I have lost another pound or so, making a total since I've started this new diet and routine to four pounds.
I didn't lose any last week, so in three weeks, four pounds is ok. I have lost an inch on my waist, meaning the flab is going somewhere, right?

I had a few fourth graders tell my youngest, her mom was so pretty.. that makes a mama feel gooood!

Eventually all this is going to pay off. Isn't it?

I need ideas for core exercises. That is where most of my jiggly parts are...but having a bad back, it is hard to do some of the things I see out there..any suggestions?? I use my ball, I do crunches. I do the superman thingy while laying on the floor..(that is hard to do while laughing btw).. I do the bicycle. I use the machines at the gym, but I need more ideas.. :)

Fit Friday

Yay it's Friday!
Just to recap the week..
I have tried so hard to stick to the diet. I only cheated a couple times and had a salad or an animal cracker. So not horrible.
But I haven't lost weight. None.
what am I doing wrong?
I am drinking my water.. all 100+ ounces..
working out. Getting the resistance. Doing the cardio.
IDK..
I will give it a few more days..Maybe it's the muscle working.
Could they be preparing to burn all my fat away and find the skinny chick inside? That would be so sweet!

Today's tip is from Bodybuilding.com
Making Cardio fun!
I don't mind cardio. I hook my ipod up, crank the volume so I am oblivious to the world and go..

Part 1

How Can You Make Cardio Fun?
To begin you must first obtain some form of media player for your cardio sessions. This can be a portable satellite radio or MP3 player for cardio that requires you only focus on a certain object. This can also include a small television set for cardio where you will be stationary

Variety:

Variety, or the lack of, is responsible for the most cardio routines killed, along with many others things in life. Doing the exact same thing over and over is a quick way to turn you away from your cardio. Humans have attention spans, some short and some long, nevertheless everyone has a breaking point. Don't do the same type of cardio everyday, there are plenty ways to have fun with cardio

Progression:

Without noticeable progression you're likely to turn away from cardio because the benefits do not appear to outweigh the costs. Progression comes in two forms, visual and mental.

Visual progression is seeing the fat leave your body over a period of time. You won't notice this change unless you take before and after pictures because you see yourself everyday. You'll never notice a day's change but you'll notice some change over a few months. Take pictures before you start your cardio routine and every month.

Mental progression is getting better at what you do over a period of time. This is running an extra lap than the week before; going another round on the heavy bag; or doing another five minutes on the stationary bike.

How do you keep mental progression? Simply keep a logbook on the duration and intensity of your cardio workouts. After doing a few months of cardio you'll be able to look back on your logbook and see your progression. For more fun upload it into a graph in Microsoft Word or Excel.

Fit Friday

I know! I forget that I make myself a schedule then ta-da! I remember!

Today is Fit Friday.
A recap of the week and a new idea or lil sumpin on exercise...

I have worked out every day this week.
I have even worked out twice most days! I know.. I don't think I'm overdoing it..I just feel better when I do.
I have a quicky at lunch..with my gym buddy :)
We giggle and laugh at ourselves trying new things, but we do it. And we do it.. And ..yep we do it!
We have a schedule and we are trying to stick to it. I even made my handy dandy workout book to help. (see post a couple days back)
We are using dumbbells and bars, avoiding most of the machines. I saw an article the other day that said doing this makes you work harder. I believe it! muscles are hating me that I didn't know were alive.
We do our resistance training, our cardio and we feel good. We watch gameshows at the same time, it's awesome.

Then I may go to the rec center for more. I do cardio and more resistance training.. same areas, just different ways. I think it adds up to a total of two to three hours a day. I think I can handle this.
It is becoming a habit that I feel like crap when I break.

now for the training advice... (this is what I am doing now..with my gym buddy) it seems to be working..

Eat small meals, healthy meals..with protein...frequently.. bumps up metabolism.
Eat a protein shake an hour after waking up.
two hours later eat some eggs, salsa and low carb wrap..
two hours or so after that. fruit and cheese stick..
etc etc...keep going..
make sure you are watching what you are eating. Eating a bag of chips won't help :)
do resistance training. just cardio wont build muscle to burn fat.

Have a great day!!

sore muscles suck

I just wanted to share that..
After days of trying to figure out how to sync my ipod to nike (it has a cool tracker device thingy) I figured it out last night! woohoo

I have officially worked out at least once every day for the last two weeks. I may have skipped one day.
I have alternated cardio and weights and most days, worked out twice.

I am thinking I may be overdoing it, but as big of a wimp as I am.. I may just be getting to "normal" workout mode.

I can do an hour of cardio at a time and be fine. I can lift 20 pound dumbbells easily with at least 20 reps. I can lift 100 pounds on the thigh machines and 70 on the lifty things.
If only I can find a way to write and walk at the same time without falling of the treadmill or making an ass out of myself, I'd be set!

I have to say I am proud of myself. I can definately feel a habit forming and I love it!
Now if only I can stop eating crap.
I have fallen off the wagon (or is it on?) and eat carbs. Much less than before, but still...carbs
I will be better next week for sure.

AT the Gym

Recently I have been going to my local Rec center to hit the gym.. Here are some fun things I've seen or done.
1. Bright orange crocs on the treadmill. Seriously people. Crocs? On a treadmill?

2. Beetlejuice striped body spandex. I really should have taken a picture. I wasn't completely sure it was a female but guessed.

3. Ipods fly really far when ripped off headphones by swinging arms. That is an experiment I've tried several times.

4. I think I'm the only one walking around with sanitizing wipes. yep. Really.

5. The end of the treadmill, well..it's dangerous. Scary even.

6. Big bodybuilding guys scare me. Especially when they stare right at you while lifting that 100 pound dumbell.

7. I really need a tan.

8. One really should invest in those lil clip on fans. Even if just to keep the sweat from rolling down and joining the ipod on the floor.

9. jeans aren't proper gym attire.

10. Being self conscious on the hip abduction or abduction machines is almost inevitable. Especially when it overlooks the swimming pool. But I did manage to use the 100 pound weights on both machines! go me :)

Happy Monday!

Forgot to check in

I totally forgot to add my Weekly weight loss post yesterday. sorry :)
I think it may be because I have not lost any weight. In fact, I've gained a couple pounds. I am still down at least 6 or 7 from my starting point, but not losing any more.
Let me list some of the reasons:
1. I have not stuck to my diet plan. at all.
2. I have not monitored my water. at all.
3. I have added bad carbs back into my shoveling food routine. bad.
4. Did I mention that I have not stuck to my plan?

I know diets only work if you actually do them. I do know this. So.. why can't my brain let me know that the skinny chick inside is dying to come out?
When I am sweating my ass off on the elliptical or treadmill, why can't my mind link the weight gain to eating crap?
What makes me choose the crap in the first place? I know better.

A couple good things this week:
I have worked out for at least an hour, almost every day. I have found, I actually enjoy it. I feel better. My mind is clear when I leave the rec center. My body is loose, which feels wonderful on my aching everything.
I decided I am starting over. Right now. Today.
Back on the wagon.
I am going to keep my workouts going. I know I can at least stick to that. I have added a new machine. Not sure what it's called, but it is kind of a mix between the stair stepper from hell, and an elliptical. It feels like I am getting a much better workout, and my sweatyness a few minutes into it, confirms this. *smile*
I can actually see some muscles under my flub. *yay*
I have lots of new and yummy recipes for South Beach diet thanks so much to Kalyn @ kalynskitchen. If you haven't been there. I suggest go. Now! She has the most wonderful information and recipes for losing weight. I am addicted to her site :)

So.. here's to a new week. A fresh start.
New, smaller, more immediate goals, one pound at a time.
Um.. Wasn't I just saying this???

I am inviting you to join me. Just email me :)

Monday Monday

Well.. I wasn't completely devistated when I stepped on the scale. Only up one pound from what I've lost. Not too bad considering. But I am starting over today. Drinking my water and making sure I take all my meds and vitamins. That is going to be the hard part. I am low on vitamin d and iron among other things, so had to add more of those in to the multitudes I already need to take. *Notice I said need to take?*
That will be my goal this week, track my vitamins and meds and make sure I take them all!

I forgot to show my latest addition to my body art :)
they aren't the greatest pics, but you can see how pretty she is :)

Sunday stuff

I haven't been around for a few days.
We took a mini vaca to visit mom's resting place, which is still there, yay!
Took her favorite yellow roses for her birthday.

then we spent the next two days gambling, drinking and having a great time. We all came home broke, but it was worth it!
I know I've blown my diet. that's a fact. I drank waay more than I should have. I ate crap. I didnt exercise for at least five days. I'm going to cry tomorrow when I step on the scale. I know it.
I am still feeling the extra pain of my neck. I went back to the Rheumatologist and he said nothing can help really. He did give me a prescrip for a traction device I can hook up at home. Basically hang myself. Idk I'll see what it is when I go get it. He said that will help take some of the pressure off my neck and help with pain some. It just sucks knowing that it is going to get worse and nothing I can do about it. He did say surgery again. But told me wait as long as I possibly can, because it may not be the best option. *sigh*
But.. I will just start over tomorrow. From the begining. I will "pretend" like it's day one of my diet. Which, it practically is. I can ignore the ten pounds I lost, and just go from where I am now. I am not expecting great news. And I'm ok with that. I'm not perfect.
I've gotten a few more lines done in my wip. I was planning on doing so much this week and weekend. I needed to get a few more chapters done, but didn't. I needed to sand and stain our coffee table, but didn't. I needed to keep losing weight, but sure I didn't.
Cross off this week for the losers! lol
Oh well..Maybe I'll start now by running to the gym. I can't decide if the pain is worth it.
Have a great day!

Week two is over

I finished my second week of South Beach diet. I have lost a total of 10 pounds. woot!
I have cheated a couple times, a few fries and a piece of birthday cake, but I am still doing pretty good.
I think I will stick with phase one for another week, just to see if it helps. It doesn't seem to be too hard to stick to, so I'm going for it!

Let's see how week three can go..I can feel the skinny chick inside fighting to come out.. Love it!

Anyone else having results?? Email me!!

Random stuff

I just have some random things to share today..
I went to my first Zumba class last night..I have to say, it is the funnest workout I've ever done.. seriously. I loved the dancing part and the whole shakin your ass part. Absolutely fun! I recommend it to everyone!
I am definately feeling it everywhere today though. I mean everywhere!

I am wearing a pair of pants, that I haven't been able to comfortably squeeze into for a month or so.. And I can breathe when I sit down!! I even have wiggle room.. How exciting is that!!!  So even though the scale isn't falling fast, My clothes are clapping! (so is my belly, and my guts that were always squished when wearing these pants)

Just a cute lil thing I saw and wanted to share.

Also...
Meet Raven.. she is the newest member of the family..

On the writing stuff.. I am still going. I have hours and hours of new research and working on a great part of the story.. The part where the good guys prepare to meet the bad guy! Ok, cliche..but still.. :) I am determined to be done with the first draft by the end of July..

Life is good!

Losing weight update

Today is the one week mark for my South Beach Diet. I am happy with the loss but not as happy as I want to be. In one week, the first week, I've lost a total of 6 pounds.
I know that is good but I was hoping for more.
I noticed I haven't been getting all my water in, just alot of diet pepsi, so this weeks plan:
Drink my water!! All of it!!
We'll see if that helps this week.

I am doing great so far sticking to the plan, we went to see Eclipse on Saturday and I didn't even have any popcorn! That was soooo hard, but I felt so proud of myself that I stood my ground against the evil stuff.

Off to fill up my water bottle and plan this weeks journey.
Anyone can email me or comment and we can have fun losing together!

Have a great day!

Losin weight

I have tried so many diets that I can't even remember most of them.. I have tried everything under the sun and still...nothing..
I'm starting to think my body hates me :)
But I've decided to try one more..just for the hell of it
I'm going to try South beach starting tomorrow. I have to take today to get all my info and menus and food.
But I am going to do it, full force this time. No excuses!
I am going to drink my 100 ounces of water and hit the gym hard core..

I am tired of being fat.
I am tired of being tired.
I am tired of wearing ugly clothes!

So...
Every Monday will be the updates on my journey..

Anyone want to join me??
